Ground Situation Has Changed: Annamalai
Chennai: Taking a swipe at poll surveys, political analyses and television debates BJP State President K Annamalai said that the situation on the ground had changed and if his party could garner yet another 10 per cent votes, it would sweep the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu since resentment against the government was at its peak.
The BJP was the only party capable of taking the DMK head on in the election in the present political scenario, Annamalai, who had already passed through 150 Assembly constituencies as party of his ‘En Mann En Makkal’ yatra across the State, told party functionaries in South Chennai and Central Chennai Parliamentary constituencies on Friday.
Criticizing the DMK for promoting dynastic succession, he said that the people were all set to defeat the DMK as they had become aware of the setbacks of the dynasty and all that was required at the moment was for the BJP to give an extra push. He urged the functionaries to enroll at least 100 new members and canvass for 300 votes each.
Chennai had become a ‘garbage city’ and slipped down to the 99th position in the cleanliness index, he said and accused the MPs of the three constituencies of abandoning the people during the recent floods and rushing to Delhi to welcome the Chief Minister, M K Stalin, who had gone there at that time. He also noted that all the three MPs were part of the dynastic succession system followed by the ruling party.
To a question on alliance, he said many parties had aligned with the BJP since the beginning and that some might walk out at some point and some would walk in and that there was no point in telling who was with them at a particular point. Those who would rally around Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be part of the alliance, he said.
One of the techniques used by the DMK to promote Udhayanidhi Stalin as the heir apparent was to keep clowns around him so that he looked like a well-informed person, he said.
Meanwhile, BJP national president J P Nadda had written personally to over a score of top State level leaders of the party, seeking their views on the situation on the ground. He asked the functionaries to provide him details about the prospects of the party, the merits and demerits of forging alliances with different parties.
He had assured to take appropriate action on the coalition for the coming elections based on their inputs and asked them to send in their personal views and assessments in a sealed cover directly addressed to him.
