Visakhapatnam: Pre-fabricated tech for future houses, says Minister

Minister inspected the housing colonies that are under construction for the Hudhud victims.

Visakhapatnam: Rural Development minister Kimidi Mrunalini said that better infrastructural facilities would be provided in the housing colonies developed by the state government.

On Thursday, Ms Mrunalini inspected the housing colonies that are under construction for the Hudhud victims in Madhurawada and Kommadi areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Mrunalini said that they would adopt the pre-fabricated technology for the future houses built by the state government.

During the minister’s tour, the officials explained the advantages of pre-fabricated technology including how it speeds-up construction time, results in lower labour costs, ensures precise conformity to building standards and greater quality assurance, etc.

The minister said that the pre-fabricated technology makes the house resilient to even severe cyclones. “About 3,887 houses are being constructed for the victims of Hudhud with the help of various organisations,” she said.

About 2,400 houses are in one or the other phase of construction,” said Ms Mrunalini.

Upon inspection of the construction of the houses, the minister expressed her satisfaction over the completion of the houses and asked the officials to use separate steel to withstand the surface winds of the sea in Visakhapatnam.
