Sanskari Censor Board to go online soon
New Delhi: ‘Sanskari Censor Board’ is soon expected to bring in transparency in the film certification process. Filmmakers, who have often cried hoarse about harassment and corruption in securing a censor certification, are in for a pleasant surprise as the Central Board for Film Certification is understood to be considering to establish a transparent online mechanism for the process.
Sources stated that the government has given its go ahead for the implementation of a complete online process for film certification to eliminate corruption. “As filmmakers would now not need to visit the CBFC during the entire process and entire interaction will be done online, the chances of corruption will be minimal,” sources added.
As a part of the process, NSDL and Wipro are understood to have organised training for officials of the CBFC before the system is put into place.
“Officials of all nine regional offices of the CBFC attended this workshop organised at Mumbai recently,” sources added.
Under the proposed policy film producers will be able to submit their films for certification through an online process. Sources stated that producers would also be able to check the status of their application online, which effectively means that there would be transparency in the process and less chances of corrupt practices as they would not need to interact with officials.
