AIMPLB member wants school at Babri site
HYDERABAD: Another member of the AIMPLB board Maulana Syed Kalbe Sadiq, made a controversial statement on Sunday in Lucknow regarding the Ram Mandir.
Senior Shia cleric and Vice-President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Maulana Syed Kalbe Sadiq said, “In my opinion, a Vidyamandir should be constructed in Ayodhya and the Ram Mandir issue will be resolved only when people want to resolve it.”
His remarks are likely to create another storm close on th e heels of one generated by the comments of Maulana Salman Nadvi, former member AIMPLB. Maulana Nadvi was expelled from the AIMPLB after he met with Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He had opined that the Babri Masjid should be shifted.
Muslims urged to remain united
Speakers at a public meeting organised by AIMPLB at Darussalam ground in the city urged Muslims to stay united.
The speakers felt that people are interfering in Muslim personal laws.
“An attempt is being made to harass Muslims on some or the other pretext. It could be beef, triple talaaq, uniform civil code, Babri Masjid and sensitive issues. All of us should stay united and fight democratically,” said Mr Obaidullah Khan Azmi, Rajya Sabha MP. Another member, Maulana Asghar Ali Imam Mahadi Salafi, said that people should be able to distinguish between good and bad.
About 50,000 people from across the country participated in the meeting. The public was turning up in large numbers till the report was being filed.
