BENGALURU: There is no camaraderie lost between the Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Minister for Health Sudhakar and president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) D.K. Shivakumar as the former was full of praise for Shivakumar and termed him of bringing a “revolution” in rural development especially in his Assembly constituency-Kanakapura in Ramanagar district.
Sudhakar was in Congress party and hails from Chikkaballapura district and switched his loyalties to BJP in 2019 to become the Minister for Health. After becoming a Minister, Sudhakar succeeded him shifting a medical college from Ramangar district to his native place Chikkaballapura.
The shifting of a government medical college from Ramanagar infuriated Shivakumar, MLA of Kanakapura and also his brother D.K. Suresh who is a Member of Parliament of Bengaluru rural Lok Sabha seat.
At the inaugural function of a maternity hospital in Kanakapura town on Sunday, Minister Sudhakar said Shivakumar has brought about a “revolution’ in rural development by making use of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS)."There should be a healthy democracy and I am firm believer in a healthy democracy,” he said.
Sudhakar on Shivakumar said, he won the first four elections with victory margin of about 15,000 votes against his main rival candidate but later elections his victory margins spiked from 30,000 to 79,000 votes.
Adding, the Minister said, “I asked Chief Executive Officer (Zilla Panchayat) how come he won with such huge margin of votes and I was told about his works under NREGS in Kanakapura.”
Continuing, he said, good works should be appreciated and criticism of wrong leads to a healthy democracy and constructive criticism of opposition parties should be accepted by the ruling party.
Sudhakar said for Ramanagar a government medical college has been approved in the previous cabinet and a PPP model a medical college is on the cards for the district to start at the earliest.
Clarifying that he never asked for a medical college approved for Ramanagar district but 2015-16 when Siddaramaiah was the CM a medical college was approved for Chikkaballapura.
In his speech, D.K. Shivakumar said he was hurt by shifting of a medical college from Ramanagar to Chikkaballapura and stated that nothing is permanent in politics. MP D.K. Suresh spoke.
