Udupi DC Priyanka Mary Francis to appear before court in Bengaluru
Udupi: Following the warrant issued by the special court, Udupi Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis will appear before the court in Bengaluru on March 13. On Friday, the special court in Bengaluru, set up to deal with land grabbing and encroachments, had issued a warrant against the Deputy Commissioner. According to sources, similar warrants have been issued to the DCs of Bidar and Raichur.
Earlier, the Court had issued notice and the Deputy Commissioner had sent the tahsildar to appear before the court. However, now, the court has issued notice seeking the appearence of the Deputy Commissioner herself.
“Every district in Karnataka has to file the complaints of land grab and encroachments in this special court. The old cases in local courts too have to be transferred there. But the tahsildars (of all the three Taluks in the district) have failed to transfer old cases from the local court to the special court. Only two new cases were filed from Kundapur taluk at the special court and no other taluk has filed any case,” Priyanka Mary Francis told Deccan Chronicle.
“Our tahsildars have prepared an action plan but have not transferred the old cases and except two cases in Kundapur, no new cases were filed in the court. Tahsildars had to responsibly do this work but they failed," she said adding that she will appear before the court on March 13.
As the tahsildars had failed to file and transfer the cases to the special court, the Deputy Commissioner has decided to issue notices to all of them. “I will issue notice to them shortly,” she added.
