Cancel BRS recognition for money laundering: Raghunandan

Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India was on Tuesday urged to cancel the registration of the BRS as a recognised political party in the wake of serious allegations that the party’s headquarters in Hyderabad was a venue for money laundering activities in connection with the Delhi liquor scam.

BJP MLA from Dubbak M. Raghunandan Rao, in a letter to the ECI, said that in the recent past, Sukesh Chandrashekar, an accused in the money laundering case, had revealed in a statement released through his advocate that he handed over Rs 15 crore to a TRS/BRS party leader Arun Pillai at the instructions of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Sukesh had also mentioned about a car with a registration number of 6060 in the compound of Telangana Bhavan, the TRS party office where he handed over the cash.

Raghunandan Rao said ECI should take appropriate action against the political party “which is involved in money laundering” and that an inquiry may be conducted by appropriate officials and “the recognition of the party may be cancelled as it is involved in money laundering.”

The BJP MLA, also met with officials from the Directorate of Enforcement at their office in Hyderabad in the evening and submitted a letter alleging that a huge money laundering activity occurred at Telangana Bhavan and that ED should investigate it and take appropriate action against all those involved.
