New Delhi: The new National Education Policy is implemented keeping in mind the requirements of modern and developed India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday.
Addressing newly-induced teachers in Madhya Pradesh via a video message, Modi said the policy emphasises on holistic development of children, focusing on knowledge, skills, culture, and promotion of Indian values.
The Prime Minister noted that the campaign to provide government jobs to youth in Madhya Pradesh is going on at a fast pace, where thousands of youth have been recruited to various posts by organising employment fairs in different districts.
Modi informed the newly-inducted teachers that over 22,400 youth have been recruited for the post of teachers, and congratulated the youth who received appointment letters for getting involved in such an important line of work.
“The policy lays emphasis on the holistic development of children,” he said, noting the important role of teachers in implementing this policy effectively.
The massive teacher recruitment campaign in Madhya Pradesh is a big step in this direction, he stated. The Prime Minister also said that almost half of the teachers appointed on Wednesday will be deputed in tribal areas, which will benefit children, and expressed delight that the Madhya Pradesh government has set a target of recruiting for more than one lakh government posts this year, including 60,000 teachers, and as a result, the state has made a big leap in the quality of education in the National Achievement Survey.
Modi further noted that the state’s rank has increased from 17 to five without spending money on publicity.
He mentioned that the government lays special emphasis on skill development to promote employment and self-employment, and skill development centres have been opened across the country.
Modi remarked that to provide training to the youth under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, 30 Skill India International Centres will be opened where youth will be trained through new age technology, and an initiative has been taken to provide training to small artisans through PM Vishwakarma Yojana as well as to connect them with MSMEs.
The Prime Minister asked new recruits to make a place in their hearts for their students, similar to a mother or a teacher’s influence on people’s lives. “You should always keep in mind that your education will not only shape the present but also the future of the country,” he said.
