Andhra Pradesh: TD NRIs lodge complaint over anonymous email
Vijayawada: The Non Resident Telugu Desam Party of India has lodged a complaint with the chief of Irving City Police over the anonymous email sent with a malicious intention to create pandemonium and thwart the community reception event arranged by the Indian Community of Texas to honour the AP Chief Minister on May 6.
NRTDPI representative K.C. Chekuri filed a case with Irving Police to trace the origin and source of the malicious email “sent to defame our honourable CM”. In his complaint, he asked the police to provide information related to any other emails on the same lines, police’s action on the email, and any other requests to beef up security.
Mr. Chekuri mentioned a false and concocted anonymous email that was sent to Irving Police office on April 28, 2017, by a group calling itself “Indians fighting for Human Rights”.
“The said email also contained various allegations fabricated to defame the chief minister and the cause of the community reception, calling it a fund-raising event, which it was not,” he observed.
A confirmation of receipt of this email was sent to the original sender by Mr Evan Vaughan, City Security Office of Irving, on April 28.
The community event reception was held as planned on May 6, 2017, at Irving Convention Center in the evening. The Chief Minister arrived in a chartered flight along with his official delegation at the Corporate Aviation Hanger at DFW airport at 5 pm and proceeded to Four Seasons Hotel at Irving.
"There was a unprecedented security at all locations, starting from the airport to the hotel and convention center. The hotel entrance and lobby were also cordoned off, denying entry to common people and allowing only people with certain entry passes. We started wondering what could be the reason for such high security."
"Meanwhile, political opponents in Andhra Pradesh started malicious propaganda that the Irving Mayor and city police swung into action based on the anonymous email and took over security of the event at the convention center, hotel and airport," Mr. Chekuri said.
