Vijayawada: Telugu students have not excelled in the IIT Advanced results announced on Sunday. Students of Andhra Pradesh who have excelled in IIT-JEE examinations earlier, have failed to get high ranks this time.
Vaddela Ashrut of Vijayawada is the only student to have made it to the top 25, with an all-India rank of 17. Nine candidates from AP have made it to the top 50.
Satvik Ambati from Secunderabad has secured 27th all-India rank. Lukka Govinda Siva Nagadev from Gudivada in Krishna district was ranked fifth in the OBC category and 28th in the all-India category. The performance in reserved categories, though, has been striking with six rankers in the all-India Top 10.
Rohan Abhishek sec-ured the all-India 3rd rank in the Scheduled Caste category with a score of 286. “I would always solve papers given to me by my faculty and I owe this result to my teachers and parents. I hope to establish a software company in the future,” said Rohan.
Around 12,000 students appeared for the examination held by IIT Madras, and 9,000 have cleared it.
Online options open on June 15
Vaddela Ashrut, who has been ranked 17, told Deccan Chronicle that he was happy to achieve this rank. He said his father was his inspiration and he wants to study computer science in Mumbai.
Chagam Dileep, a student from Anantapur, whose all-India ranking is 44, said he wants to study computer science in IIT Bombay.
“Motivation of my father Rama Govinda Reddy has helped me to achieve this rank. I want to make my parents proud,” Dileep said.
N.V.S. Hari Krishna, son of a farmer from Lingapalem mandal in West Godavari district, who was ranked 60th in the open category said his hard work had paid off and he is happy that he has achieved what he has coming from the farming community.
Qualified candidates can pick their options online from June 15 to 19. Counselling will be held in seven phases.
