Kamalakar directs officials to take preventive measures
Karimnagar: Backward classes welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar on Monday ordered officials of departments concerned to take precautionary measures to prevent loss of life, property and crop damage from heavy rains in Karimnagar.
In a review meeting, Kamalakar took stock of low-lying areas and colonies that were submerged and also of water bodies that were overflowing.
He directed electricity department officials to continue repairs of electric poles, along with replacing damaged poles, while he asked the health department to check the spread of seasonal diseases.
District collector R.V. Karnan said that the administration was on high alert and took all preventive measures.
So far, two houses were completely damaged and 34 houses suffered partial damage due to rains.
Officials said that a call centre has been set up for the emergency and asked people to reach out to them on 0870-2265 for help.
Police commissioner V. Satyanarayana, Suda chairman G.V. Rama Krishna, district library department chairman A. Ravinder Reddy, mayor Y.Sunil Rao, deputy mayor Challa Swarup Rani, additional collector Garima Agarwal and other officials took part in the meeting.
