2 killed in mishap at Aurobindo Pharma
Visakhapatnam: Two workers were killed in a accident at the Aurobindo Pharma unit in Pydibhi-mavaram in Ranastalam mandal of Srikakulam district on Sunday morning.
Another worker escaped by jumping out of the window but sustained severe injuries.
According to the police, ash powder had blocked the boiler. The three workers went up to check the problem. They were suddenly confronted with a burst of heat. Two of them died on the spot.
JR Puram sub-inspector B. Ashok Babu said that a case has been registered under Section 174 of the CrPC (death under suspicious circumstances). The company management has agreed to pay Rs 36 lakh to the family members of each of the deceased employees.
Roads minister Dharmana Krishna Das expressed solidarity with the bereaved families. He asked the management to provide good healthcare to the injured worker.
The victims were identified as shift in-charge Reddy Rahul, 28, and boiler operator Bommadi Rajasekhar, 38. Sanyasi Rao, the worker who suffered injuries, was admitted to a nearby hospital.
