KARIMNAGAR: The visuals of the movement of a bear in colonies recorded in CCTV footage went viral on various social media platforms creating panic among the residents here in Karimnagar city.
On Friday night, a bear was spotted in Rizwi Chaman area on the outskirts of Bommakal Village Panchayat limits. The animal was seen roaming along the middle of the road in Rekurthy Nagar on Saturday morning. After seeing the bear, people started to run to escape from it.
Meanwhile, receiving information from the locals, forest department officials with search and clues teams started search operations to trace the bear before it hurts anyone.
The officials from Warangal district noticed the bear taking a rest in a bush at Rekurthy Nagar forest and gave a tranquilizer shot. But, the bear escaped from the area.
Later, the officials successfully caught the bear after two hours of intensive search operation and rescued it. The tranquilized animal was shifted to the Warangal Zoological Park.
Last year, a bear was spotted by the students of Satavahana University near the girl’s hostel campus. The university officials along with officials of the forest department tried to capture the bear, but failed to succeed.
