Girl, 12, dies after slipping into stream while searching for diamonds

Kurnool: A 12-year-old girl died after slipping into a stream while searching for diamonds in Mahanandi mandal of Nandyal district on Friday evening.

The victim, identified as Keertana, was the daughter of Hussaini from Yalluru in Gospadu. She was searching for diamonds with her parents at the Sree Sarva Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in the area when she slipped into the stream and was washed away.

Her parents immediately informed the police, who rushed to the spot along with rescue teams. However, Keertana's body was not found in the darkness. The search operation was resumed on Saturday morning and her body was finally recovered from the stream.

The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
