Hyderabad: The Boston Sight SCLERAL and PROSE lens manufacturing facility at the L. V. Prasad Eye Institute has created special contact lenses for people with certain corneal problems that cannot be treated. The lenses can be used by people suffering from ocular surface disease, corneal disease, and injury or damage to cornea.
“Use of these specialised lenses can restore visual function among patients, support healing, reduce symptoms, avoid corneal transplantations and improve the quality of life of patients,” said Dr Gullapalli N. Rao, founder and chair of LVPEI.
The lenses have been certified by the British Standards Institute post a review. The new ISO certification ensures that the institute’s quality management system meets global regulatory requirements specific to the industr, Dr Rao stated.
