Tense situation in Anantapur as TD activists enforce bandh
ANANTAPUR: A tense situation prevailed in several parts of Anantapur, Satya Sai and Kadapa districts following the bandh call given by the TD against the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu.
Some TD activists pelted stones on an APSRTC bus here. Police arrested some of the activists and provided security to RTC buses. Though the police put some TD leaders under house arrest, several of them ran out of their homes through their back doors and joined the street protests.
Dharmavaram TD incharge Paritala Sreeram jumped the compound wall of his Anantapur house and joined the protests. The police arrested him.
A few educational institutions and shops remained closed due to the bandh call. Police said additional forces were posted in all sensitive areas.
Amalapuram ex-MP Harsha Kumar expressed his solidarity with Chandrababu Naidu and condemned his arrest. He went to the Central Jail and expressed his support to Naidu.
