Hyderabad: Following the report ‘Tolichowki fights mosquito menace’ published in these columns on Thursday, GHMC staff descended on the Shah Hatim lake and Balkapur Nala and took measures to control mosquito larvae.
They sprayed DDT powder to control the growth of mosquitoes and malaria larvicidal (ML) oil to breeding.
Former MLA Karwan and MIM candidate Kausar Moinuddin inspected ponds and nalas of Qila Golconda and Tolichowki, which have become breeding places for mosquitoes.
Mr Moinuddin said he had informed GHMC commissioner M. Dana Kishore about the problem of mosquitoes.
He said that due to the delay in the release of funds, works had not been taken up, resulting an increase in mosquitoes in these areas. He said the GHMC had done much work but more measures needed to be taken.
