CM Jagan to launch 7.43 lakh mass housewarmings, address public meeting

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would launch the mega mass housewarming ceremonies of 7.43 lakh houses under the flagship Navaratnalu-Pedalandriki Illu in Samarlakota of Kakinada district at 9.30am on Thursday.

The Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government that aims to fulfil the dream of poor women to own homes distributed 30.75 lakh house sites to them across the state, in which construction of 21.76 lakh houses were done as part of the Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu.

The stage is set for the mass housewarming inauguration programme at which the CM would address the public after the launch event.

Officials said the YSRC government distributed 30.75 lakh free house site pattas to women, in which construction work was initiated on 21.76 lakh houses. At present, 7.43 lakh houses have completed the construction and are being handed over to the beneficiaries. The rest of the houses’ construction is progressing at a brisk pace.

Housing minister Jogi Ramesh said the state government is constructing not just houses, but habitations, colonies and new towns. He explained, “Fulfilling the dream of owning a house to poor women, 30.75 lakh house sites were distributed in 17,005 YSR-Jagananna Colony layouts, in a total area of 71,811 acres.

He said, “The value of the distributed plots ranged from 2.5 lakh to 15 lakh, depending on the location. Even at the minimum value of 2.5 lakh, the total value of the plots was more than 76,000 crore. We are constructing 21.76 lakh houses at a cost of '56,700 crore under the Navaratnalu Pedalandariki Illu @ 2.70 lakhs for each house.”

In all the YSR-Jagananna layouts, the state government is providing infrastructure facilities like water, electricity, internet, drainage, sewerage, road and social infrastructure viz schools, Anganwadi centres and health centres at a cost of '32,909 crore to develop them as Model Colonies.

Besides providing house sites free of cost, the government is providing 1.80 lakh for the construction per unit, providing a pavala vaddi loan of 35,000, free sand worth 15,000 and an additional benefit of around 40,000 by providing cement, steel, metal frames and other building materials at subsidized rates.

Ramesh said the government distributed 30.75 lakh house sites to poor women beneficiaries across the state by developing 17,005 YSR - Jagananna Colony layouts in 18 months after it took power in 2019. The government is also providing TIDCO houses to 2.62 lakh beneficiaries with all infrastructure facilities and free registrations.
