Buxar Tragedy: Rs 4 Lakh ex-gratia for families of deceased
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday announced ex-gratia of Rs. 4 lakh each for the families of individuals who lost their lives and Rs. 50,000 for those injured following the derailment of North East Express in Buxar.
Nitish Kumar described the death of four persons travelling in the ill-fated train as “disheartening” and “extremely sad”.
He said, “The state government has announced Rs. 4 lakh as compensation for the families of those who lost their lives in the train accident. When we received the information local administration rushed to the site and made adequate arrangements for the rescue operation. It is unfortunate to know that four people lost their lives in the train accident”.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also offered condolences to the families of those who lost their lives following the train accident. He directed the state government officials to make adequate arrangements for the treatment of passengers who were injured in the incident.
“We will extend all kinds of help and support to all those who were injured in the accident. Officials have been directed to keep a tab on everything”. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said.
While talking to reporters in Patna Nitish Kumar also expressed concern over the safety of trains and said, “This is that matter of Indian Railways but as soon as we got the information the state government officials rushed to the spot… they (the Centre) should be more careful about such incidents.”
The North East express train no. 12506 from Anand Vihar railway station in Delhi to Kamakhya station in Guwahati derailed near Raghunathpur station near Buxar in Bihar at 9.53 pm on Wednesday.
At least four persons were killed and around 100 passengers were injured after 23 coaches derailed in Bihar. Railway authorities will conduct a high-level investigation into the derailment of the North East express.
