Trimurti rules Telangana
Hyderabad: Except for the first family of Telangana — the Kalvakuntla scions — no other family can fully celebrate the people’s mandate. Voters were divided over picking candidates from same family be it the TRS or the Congress. Only one among the duo of Komatireddy, Patnam and Mallu brothers won the election.
Congress leader Koma-tireddy Rajgopal Reddy won from Munogode constituency while his brother Venkat Reddy lost in the Congress bastion of Nalgonda. While Rajago-pal Reddy won by a margin of about 22,552 votes, his brother lost by a similar margin of 23,698 votes to TRS candidate Kancharla Bhupal Reddy.
The dark horse was Patnam Narender Reddy who won over the star campaigner of the Congress A. Revanth Reddy, by a margin of 9319 votes. Narender Reddy is brother of former transport minister and Tandur candidate Mahender Reddy. Mahender Reddy lost to Congress candidate Rohith Reddy by a margin of 2,875 votes.
Similar was the case with the Mallu brothers. Congress leader from Madhira, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, won by a margin of 3,567 votes over TRS candidate Kamal Raju Lingala. His brother Dr Mallu Ravi lost to TRS leader and former minister Charlakola Laxma Reddy by a margin of 45,082 votes from Jadcherla constituency.
N. Uttam Kumar Reddy’s wife N. Padmavati lost to TRS candidate Bollam Mallaiah Yadav by a mere 668 votes from Kodad. Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy’s nephew and Congress leader Kaushik Reddy Padi, who was contesting from Huzurabad, lost to former minister and TRS candidate Etala Rajendar. Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy won Huzurnagar by a margin of 4,022. However, Ms Aruna lost to her nephew Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy of the TRS by a margin of 28,260 votes.
All the three candidates from the Kalvakuntla family won with thumping majorities.
