YSRC govt gives ultimatum to Anganwadis

Speaking to mediapersons, he questioned would sitting on a strike resolve issues

Vijayawada: The Anganwadis have been on the warpath on for the last 27 days demanding a hike in the remuneration and seeking fulfillment of other promises regarding their retirement benefits, better working conditions.

Responding on the issue, YSRC government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said that anganwadis will be thrown out of their job if they do not join duties within 10 days, as mentioned in the notices served to them. Then fresh recruitment will be taken up to fill the vacancies, he said and urged the anganwadis not to take the issue out of bounds.

He said that the government had held talks with the anganwadis three times already but there was no breakthrough.

Speaking to mediapersons, he questioned would sitting on a strike resolve issues. “If that was the case, all employees will just protest without doing any work. This is not any factory for all issues to get resolved,” he said.

It is the responsibility of the government to search for alternatives. If the anganwadis continue their protest, then the assurances given with regard to some demands will also not be implemented. The anganwadis are determined over pay hike and we promised that it would done in July 2024. Strike can’t be done forever, he reminded.

Sajjala said that the retirement benefit amount for anganwadis has been hike to Rs 70,000 from Rs 50,000 and for ayahs to Rs 50,000 from 20,000. He said that expert advice will be taken for organizing the anganwadi app efficiently. Mini anganwadis would be upgraded as main anganwadis basing on the population, he said.

Meanwhile, anganwadis said that they did not get any assurances from the government regarding any of their demands.
