Visually challenged man returns degree for not implementing reservation
He said that the reservation remained only on paper and no body was benefited.
Tirunelveli: A visually challenged person who came to receive his P.hd degree in folklore on Saturday caused a flutter when he gave back the degree after taking it from the Governor and Chancellor Manonmaniam Sundaranar University K Rosiah during the convocation. Later the University officials persuaded him to accept his degree.
According to Pandithurai, who got his P.hd in folklore, he was removed from the dais as he protested against the government for not implementing the three per cent reservation for the physically challenged people in Government departments and universities. Hence he returned it. He said that the reservation remained only on paper and no body was benefited.
