Ooty: Flying squads seize Rs 4.17 lakh in Nilgiris
Ooty: Special flying squads established to check the illegal flow of money during the elections seized Rs.4.17 lakh on Monday in the hills here, as the poll mode has just begun in the Nilgiris.
Ms. J. Innocent Divya, collector of Nilgiris, stated that the Nilgiris (reserved) constituency, will have 1,611 polling stations and 7,732 government staff/officers will be pressed into poll duty.
As many as 163 zonal squads have been set up across the constituency and 18 flying squads and 18 static surveillance teams have also been formed for round the clock monitoring and to check vehicles, she noted.
She added that 124 polling stations in the Nilgiris constituency have been identified as 'sensitive' polling stations. In these polling stations, central government employees will be on poll duty as monitoring officers.
These polling stations will also be monitored through web casts, she noted.
