Karnataka polls: Gali Janardhan wins from Gangawati constituency
Mangaluru: Mining baron G Janardhan Reddy has made a comeback to the Karnataka Assembly, this time as a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Kalyana Rajya Pragathi Paksha (KRPP). After staying away from BJP and active politics for over 12 years, Reddy had formed KRPP a few months ago and had contested from Gangawati while his wife, Gali Lakshmi Aruna, contested from Bellary City.
Reddy emerged victorious in the election and his wife secured second place in Bellary City.
Reddy won the election by defeating Iqbal Ansari of the Congress Party by 8,266 votes in Gangawati. Reddy secured 66,213 votes, while Ansari received 57,947 votes.
Meanwhile, in Bellary City, Nara Bharath Reddy of the Congress Party won the election by securing 86,440 votes, defeating Gali Lakshmi Aruna by 37,863 votes. Aruna had secured 48,477 votes. G Somashekhara Reddy, the younger brother of Janardhan Reddy, who was also in the fray, stood third with 37,155 votes. Anil H Lad, a former MLA who had entered the fray with the JD(S) ticket, secured 610 votes.
