Hyderabad: BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao will visit Maharashtra on June 15 to open a party office in Nanded and induct leaders into the party ranks, marking the Chief Minister’s fourth visit to the state since February.
During his visit, he will address party leaders and workers to guide them on the party’s expansion in Maharashtra. Chandrashekar Rao will also review the progress of the ongoing BRS membership drive and the formation of party committees from the village level to the state level.
BRS sources further indicated that Chandrashekar Rao is planning to open party offices in Mumbai, Aurangabad and Pune next month, following which he will shift focus to Madhya Pradesh, where efforts are being made to open a BRS office in Bhopal.
Chandrashekar Rao has already inducted several leaders from across the political spectrum in Madhya Pradesh.
Noted RTI and tribal rights activist Anand Roy, of Madhya Pradesh, who is also the whistleblower of the Vyapam scam, joined BRS in Chandrashekar Rao’s presence on June 7. His induction speeded up party activities in the central state, which is going for polls along with Telangana this year.
Since February, Chandrashekar Rao has addressed two public meetings, in Nanded on February 5 and Kandhar-Loha on March 14, in Maharashtra.
On May 19, he visited Nanded again to launch BRS membership drive and oversee the training of party leaders and workers for undertaking the membership drive. He had also announced a one-month action plan to expand the BRS and spread the party ideology at the village level by forming nine committees.
He distributed digital tablets to party functionaries for undertaking online membership drives in Maharashtra and distributed the party's publicity material. Rao asked party functionaries to cover five villages every day for the next 30 days, meet the people, explain the Telangana model, seek their support for BRS and undertake a membership drive.
Chandrashekar Rao had also instructed party members to form ward/division committees in towns and cities. Each village, ward and division should have nine committees each for women, farmers, youth, OBCs, SCs, STs, youth and students, among others, Chandrashekar Rao said.
He will review the progress of these committees during his visit to Nanded on June 15.
