NIA to check links between Hyderabad ISIS group and Kerala suspects
Hyderabad: The National Investigation Agency will be verifying if the arrested members of local ISIS group had connections with those who had disappeared from Kerala recently. It will also probe the Kolkata ISIS link as a suspect arrested in West Bengal had confessed about his Hyderabad handler a week ago.
Meanwhile, after reports that 21 youths who had recently gone missing from Kerala had allegedly joined the IS, Counter Intelligence and Special Branch teams of TS are verifying missing cases in the Old City area. The teams are concentrating on people between 20 and 40 years who have gone missing in the last three months.
Cops quiz parents of all 12 missing youths
After a thorough verification, the teams have interrogated the parents of the 12 youths who went missing in the last three months.
An official source from south zone said, “We have found about 50 cases related to failure in love and family disputes. We are suspecting only a few youths who have good education and family backgrounds.”
Another official from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of CCS said that this was a routine process. “When dealing with terror related cases, we verify the details of missing cases. Based on inputs received from multiple agencies, we had concluded that about 33 youth who had gone missing from the city had joined various terror outfits one-and-a-half decades ago,” the official said.
An Intelligence official, however, denied that any missing youth from the city had joined the IS in the recent past. “Verification of missing youth and their family details is continuing. But so far we have not got any evidence or confirmation that they joined terror outfits,” he said.
