Pattiseema water to reach Krishna
Vijayawada: The Pattiseema water finally will reach Krishna district on Wednesday night. The water was released almost a week ago from Godavari and officials have envisaged that it would enter the district limits four days after the release. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu too announced that the water would reach the district on July 10 at the time of water releasing on July 6.
But contrary to expectations, water will reach the district in four days. The Godavari waters would enter Krishna district at Tammileru on Wednesday night. Moreover, another three to four days time is required for the water to reach the confluence location at Ibrahimpatnam in Krishna district. As per the officials, water flow in canal is eight kilometers a day. Krishna district irrigation department in-charge superintending engineer S. Sugunakara Rao said that generally, waters flows the same eight kilometers a day speed even if the flow is heavy. Even waters from Godavari river also flow in the same speed, he added. Presently, two pumps are working and the total pumps will be operated slowly, he said, and added that already all the pumps were operated on a trail run. Besides, the irrigation officials prepared plans to release water to the canals in Krishna delta immediately after receiving water from Godavari. Now the farming community is ploughing their lands and making arrangements for seedbeds for present kharif season.
Significantly, the Krishna delta may witness total cultivation for the first time. It is expected to cultivate two lakh acres additionally on its cultivated area of 14 lakh acres in the limits of four districts of Krishna, Guntur, West Godavari and Prakasam, say Krishna District Telugu Rythu president Chalasani Anjaneyulu.
