Cottages to be moved from Yadadri hill
Hyderabad: The Yadadri Temple Development Authority has procured a whopping 850 acres at Peddagutta and surrounding areas on Turkapally road near the Yadadri hill to construct cottages for pilgrims headed for the temple.
As per the plan, the Yadadri hill will have only the temple and related structures of religious importance, much like Tirumala in AP and Palani in Tamil Nadu. The YTDA is demolishing cottages, offices and hotels on the Yadadri hill in phases.
YTDA vice-chairman G. Kishan Rao said all cottages located on the hill would be shifted. “We are planning to shift these cottages to the bottom of the hill or the proposed cottage zone on Peddagutta. Only the temple, Tiru Mada streets, Yagasala, pravachanasala and others will remain on the hill,” he said.
The YTDA is developing an area of 250 acres to build cottages. In first phase, officials are building 40-feet and 60-feet roads and have marked plots ranging from 1,000 square yards to 1,200 square yards on Peddagutta. Mr Kishan Rao said the cottages would be constructed on Public Private Participation mode.
“We will hand over the plots to donors free to develop and construct multi-storeyed cottages like in Tirumala. These plots will be registered in the name of YTDA and donors will construct cottages on the names of their loved ones,” he said.
YTDA will build roads and develop the plots, and will not spend on construction. About 300 plots will be given to donors in the first phase, he said. He said donors would get accommodation at the respective cottages they built, for 12 days to 30 days a year. “The number of days will be decided by a committee,” he said.
