Hyderabad police launch cyber safety initiative

The inaugural event of the campaign was held at Ravindra Bharati auditorium on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad city police have started a ‘Cybersafe Hyderabadi’ campaign to create awareness among teenagers and younger students in the city on the dos and don'ts in cyberspace, in order to ensure that the younger generation does not become the victims of cyber crime. The inaugural event of the campaign was held at Ravindra Bharati auditorium on Wednesday.

Students from various colleges were informed about the offences connected with social media and the precautions that must be taken while sharing information with strangers.

Addressing the gathering, Hyderabad city police commissioner Anjani Kumar said, “Every third day there is a complaint at the cyber crime police station about meeting a stranger on social media and landing in trouble in one way or other. Meeting a stranger is not bad, but if you are not aware of precautions that have to be taken while communicating, it lands you in trouble.”
