Yadav community's Sadar Utsav begins with a flourish
Hyderabad: Sadar Utsav, the major festival of the Yadav community, began on a grand note in the city on Monday. Yadavs organise the mega event, which also marks a community get-together, in villages and towns, a day after Diwali.
The first day celebrations in the city were at Risala Bazar at Bolarum and Khairatabad while the biggest Sadar Sammelan will be held in Narayanguda on Tuesday.
The gatherings at Risala Bazar and Bolaram included families from the surrounding places.
An elderly visitor said that earlier the samelan featured trading activities, whereby people would either sell or buy cattle. Now times have changed, he said.
The venue at Khairtabad saw Manuka Gangadhar Yadav parade a majestic six and half feet Bheem in an impressive procession. He said “we plan this procession several months in advance. It is a prestigious moment for all of us.”
The Khairatabad Sadar Utsav saw the participation of bulls from Panjagutta, Khairatabad, Somajiguda, Domalguda, Puranapul, Ameerpet, Chintal Basti and Anand Nagar colony.
Even organiser Mahesh Yadav said, “We are conducting this Sadar Sammelan for the past six decades. Up to 6,000 visitors made it to Khairatabad. ‘Rana’ the bull from Haryana stole the evening limelight.”
