Special pujas, tree planting marks Rajinikanth's birthday bash
Ooty: As superstar Rajinikanth's political entry is on the cards, his birthday on Wednesday saw fans attached to the Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM) showing re-energised enthusiasm.
Distribution of welfare assistance, tree planting and other festivities marked the occasion.
Rajini fans lit up the hills, busy with birthday celebration schedules like flag hoisting, visiting temples to offer special pujas, distribution of sweets and food to school children and inmates of mercy homes and old-age homes, which continued from early morning to evening, across the district.
This shows that Rajini fans are back in the reckoning and getting ready to garner support of the public for Rajinikanth.
Fans in Coonoor town reached out to an old age home here. They interacted with the inmates there freely and served food to them.
Secretary of the RMM in Nilgiris district, S. Kumar, who summed up the celebrations in the hills, said that various community services, including planting of saplings and distribution of rice to the downtrodden, was taken up by Rajini fans as an effort to re-connect with people and prove that Rajini fans are second to none in serving the community. The celebrations also vindicated that 'Rajinimania' is still fresh in the Nilgiris, he added.
