Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike school students get free blazers
Bengaluru: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has begun distributing free blazers to students studying in all high schools run by it and the government schools in the city.
Distribution of blazers have already begun in wards such as Padarayanapura, Kasturbanagar, Srirampura and Mahadevapura among others, BBMP sources said.
Blazers are being distributed to school students studying in class 8, 9 and 10 in all 164 schools located in all 198 wards of the BBMP. The civic body had floated tenders a few months back to make blazers. Around 8,000 students will get blazers against a total of 17,500 students studying from class 1 to 12 in BBMP limits.
The BBMP is distributing blazers to motivate its students to study well and to also remove the inferiority complex and bring about a ‘feel good’ spirit.
The civic body is also focused on improving academic results and performance of its students in both curricular and extracurricular activities, besides paying utmost attention to attract learning in BBMP schools by ensuring all basic facilities like library, developing classrooms with vitrified floors and better toilets.
Good response from students, parents
“My area BBMP School in Azadnagar received 700 blazers provided by BBMP authorities and all the blazers were distributed to students in presence of me and the headmaster of the school. The distribution evoked good response from students and parents in my ward. The decision to distribute free blazers was decided when Imran Pasha was at the helm as Chairman of Education Standing Committee during the tenure of Mayor’s Gangambike Mallikarjun term,” said Sujatha Ramesh, Corporator ward number 141, Kasturbanagar, Chamarajpet Assembly segment.
