Hyderabad: Security to be upped at Assembly, no more fresh passes for anyone
Hyderabad: Security will be tightened at the Telangana state Legislature starting Thursday in the wake of the incident of intruders jumping into the Lok Sabha.
An urgent meeting called by pro-tem Speaker Akbaruddin Owaisi on Wednesday evening and held in the Assembly Speaker’s chambers, decided that a three-tier security will be in place at the Legislature. Police and Assembly security officials were instructed to thoroughly check every visitor before allowing them into the Legislature.
Also, as part of the enhanced security measures, it was decided that no more fresh passes of any kind will be issued and only those who already have been issued passes will be allowed inside the Legislature compound. The Assembly is scheduled to elected the new Speaker on Thursday.
The meeting chaired by Akbaruddin, was attended by Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, Legislative Affairs Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Hyderabad city police commissioner Kothakota Srinivas Reddy, Legislature secretary Narasimha Charyulu, and senior police and Assembly security officials.
