Hyderabad: Central services officer Suryadevara Prasanna Kumar has been appointed adviser to the Telangana State Legislature Secretariat and will be assisting Legislative Council chairman G. Sukhender Reddy and Speaker G. Prasad Kumar in legislative matters.
Kumar has vast experience in the legislature, judiciary, and executive, having worked for 30 years in different positions including as an officer on special duty (OSD) to the Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. It was during his tenure with the Lok Sabha Speaker that the Lower House started the Lok Sabha TV channel.
Kumar worked as a director in the office of the Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari and played a crucial role in the launching of Rajya Sabha TV.
A native of Khammam district and law graduate from Delhi University, Kumar also served as secretary to the Legislative Assembly of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. He introduced reforms of far-reaching consequences, according to a press release.
Kumar started his career as a news presenter on All India Radio and his last posting was OSD to the Chief Justice of India Justice N.V. Ramana and Registrar, Supreme Court.
