Sadhguru leads yogic unity at fest
Coimbatore: In a new convergence of universal spirituality and ‘yoga’, several lakh devotees participated in ‘Mahashivratri’ organised by Isha Foundation at the iconic 112-ft image of Adiyogi - the ‘Source of Yoga’-, at the foothills of the western ghats near here on Tuesday.
The celebrations began at 6 pm and concluded on Wednesday morning. Tamil Nadu Governor, Mr. Banwarilal Purohit and other ministers participated in the event.
Describing the significance of Mahashivratri, Sadhguru said, “On Mahashivratri, there is a natural upsurge of energy in the human system. On this day, the planetary positions and the energy especially in the northern hemisphere are such that it is easy to move our energies upwards. To facilitate this, one should keep the spine vertical, and hence the tradition of staying awake throughout the night on Mahashivaratri.”
Speaking on Adiyogi, the Sadhguru said, “within a year of unveiling, Adiyogi's face has become an iconic landmark of Bharat and an inspiration beyond boundaries. Mahashivratri - the night of the Adiyogi - Shiva - is not about religion. It's an all-inclusive festival that predates all religions.”
Sonu Nigam, Daler Mahndi, Mohit Chauhan and Sean Roldan enthralled the jubilant audience with their performances during the course of the night with their revolutionary sounds.
Santosh Shetty’s troupe and Manipuri drummers added some traditional colors to the event with their musical and dance offering. ‘Sound Of Isha’ delivered a potent and intoxicating ethereal concoction of their songs and music to an enthusiastic crowd.
Also, for the first time, devotees at the Isha Yoga Center on Mahashivratri received a ‘Rudraksh bead’as prasadam.
