Do not exempt Jagan Mohan Reddy from personal appearance: CBI

CBI contended that Mr Reddy should not be given any exemption as he could influence the witnesses using “political, money and muscle power”.

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a counter-affidavit before the Telangana High Court, opposing the request of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy seeking exemption from personal appearance in the court every Friday in connection with disproportionate assets cases. In a counter-affidavit, the CBI contended that Mr Reddy should not be given any exemption as he could influence the witnesses using “political, money and muscle power”.

The YSRCP chief filed 11 petitions before the High Court seeking that he be exempted from appearing in the court every Friday as he, being the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was required to be available to the people.
