Former top cop approaches CAT
Hyderabad: Former Intelligence Chief of Andhra Pradesh, Mr A.B. Venkateswara Rao, who was working during the regime of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government, has approached the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), challenging the suspension orders issued against him.
Seeking relief from his suspension, he filed a petition before the Hyderabad bench of CAT, Mr Rao heaped criticism over the present state government, stating that the government was malafide and malice against him and submitted that he was being kept under suspension due to the political vendetta and bias by the present government.
He brought to notice of the tribunal about the incidents from the day one of the formation of the present government, from the last week of May 2019, to February 8, this year, when he was placed under suspension.
“Since, 30 May 2019, after the new political government took charge, I have not been given any posting after being transferred from the post of Director General of ACB and the government has not been paid my salaries for eight months. Moreover, the government ordered the suspension late at night on February 8, which is a second Saturday, a public holiday, this shows the political vendetta,” Mr Rao told.
Mr Rao has been placed under suspension by the AP government, over allegations of indulging in corrupt practices in the procurement of security equipment when he was additional director general of police (DGP) of the state.
