Land acquisition victims seek Pawan Kalyan's intervention to save lands

The victim landowners and farmers conducted a protest with PK banner at Penumaka on Thursday.

GUNTUR: The Amaravati land acquisition victim farmers appealed to Jana Sena founder and Telugu cine hero K. Pawan Kalyan to don the role of a saviour to protect their lands. The victim landowners and farmers conducted a protest with PK banner at Penumaka on Thursday. The farmers recalled the promise of PK about protecting their multi-crop fertile lands during his visit to Amaravati and sought immediate intervention to stop land acquisition. Penumaka victim farmers led by Rajadhani Rythu Sangham leaders G. Naresh Reddy and others staged a protest at Ramalayam centre on the Amaravati main road with PK banner.

They wrote an open letter to PK and released it. They stated that PK interacted with Penumaka farmers, enquired about the quality of soil and saw the crops, including vegetables cultivated in their lands. They said that PK assured them about opposing land acquisition and fighting with the state government against the forcible land acquisition. They claimed that 53,000 acres of the lands was collected by the government, including private and government lands in which the state government is using only 900 acres of land for the new capital Amaravati construction and rest of the land would be given to corporates and multi-national companies for real estate business.

The victims farmers asked PK to pressurise Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to stop land acquisition and exempt Penumaka and Undavalli from land acquisition and land pooling scheme by fulfilling his promise. They warned about starting a series of protests if the government fails to stop land acquisition.
