Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Prasant Kumar Mishra said it was the responsibility of the lawyers to create legal awareness among the rural poor.
Participating as the chief guest at the three-day residential orientation programme organised by the AP Bar Council at KL University in Vaddeswaram on Sunday, the Chief Justice said the legal profession was crucial to sustaining democracy and asked the senior lawyers to train the juniors with communication skills and key points in the legal profession. This will help them prepare the petition by getting proper information from the litigants, Mishra said.
Chairman of KL University Koneru Satyanarayana said he was happy to host the orientation programme for the lawyers who have come from different places. He said on behalf of the university, a smart village concept was launched, and every student spends 15 days in a village to understand the socio-economic conditions.
“If lawyers also took up such programmes, villages would be developed,” the chairman said.
Judge Akula Venkata Sesha Sai said the legal profession was highly respected in society as the lawyers made efforts to render justice to the affected parties, mostly the poor. He advised the new lawyers to improve their skills to be successful in the profession.
The AP Bar Council chairman Ganta Rama Rao thanked the university authorities for hosting the residential orientation programme for young lawyers. The vice chancellor of the university Dr G. Parthasaradhi also spoke on the occasion.
