Resolution against me illegal, done to confuse party cadres: Dhinakaran

He also appealed to party cadres to take the party in the path of MGR, Amma and Sasikala's ideology.

Madurai: TTV Dhinakaran on Monday said that if party general secretary VK Sasikala wanted she could have been the general secretary of party the day Jayalalithaa died, and appealed to party cadres to take the party in the path of MGR, Amma and Sasikala's ideology.

"If Sasikala wanted she could have been general secretary of party, the day Jayalalithaa died. But she did not wish to do that. Let us take an oath to take the AIADMK in path of MGR, Jayalalithaa and Sasikala. I appeal the Tamil Nadu government to have good rapport with the Central government to ensure our needs of state are met," Dhinakaran said.

He further said that passing a resolution against him is not legal and said the development clearly indicates that someone was under pressure to act against him.

"When you have filed an affidavit at the Election Commission (EC) stating that Sasikala is general secretary and I am deputy general secretary. Then why has there been a resolution against me? It's not legal. It is done to confuse party cadres. Under whose pressure they passed that resolution?" he said.

Dhinakaran also strongly urged that the two leaves symbol must be retrieved by the party.

"We have to retrieve our two leaves symbol. We have duty to win in a huge manner in Lok Sabha polls. We have responsibility of strengthening the party. Some people think they can rule the state sitting in Secretariat. It is our duty to carry forward legacy of Jayalalithaa," he added.

The faction of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palanisamy has also passed a resolution as per which all the appointments made by Dhinakaran stand null and void.

"Whatever appointments were made by TTV Dhinakaran are not according to the party law. We request the party cadre to ignore them," a leader of EPS faction said.

On August 7, Palaniswamy said he expects the much-anticipated-but-delayed merger of the two factions of the AIADMK.

"I expect to see it soon," he told reporters.

His remark came after the leader of the Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction led by O. Panneerselvam said it had had not heard from the former on the merger talks.

Earlier in the month, Dhinakaran assured that the party is working towards the merger of the faction, adding it could even take place before October 17.
