Nagaroor 1st fully digital police station
Thiruvananthapuram: The newly inaugurated Nagaroor police station in the northern suburbs of Thiruvananthapuram will be state's first fully computerised station. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated nine new police stations through video conferences from Nagaroor. Everything from complaint registration to charge sheet and storage of evidences will be digitalised from the first day at station.
“The complaints can be given online. FIR will also be issued as softcopy or printouts. Copies of written complaint will be sca-nned and digitally saved. The station diary also is digital. The progress of investigations, photogra-phs and evidence will all be saved digitally,” said a senior police officer.
The wanted list and beat patrol details will also be stored online. The station, first proposed in 2010, sits around 37 km from Sup-erintendent of Police of Thiruvananthapuram Ru-ral Police. It covers around 35 kilometres square that includes Nagaroor panchayat and parts of Kar-avaram, Koduvazhanoor, Alamcode and Pulimath panchayats.
Apart from this, Poovar and Anchuthengu coastal police stations were also commissioned for capital on Monday. Presently Thiruvananthapuram has just one coastal police station at Vizhinham to command the coast from Poz-hiyoor in the south to Anc-huthengu in North. The Poovar police station whi-ch has a watchtower amo-ng other features was also a long-term demand of local fishing community which often needs assistance at sea.
The other inaugurated police stations were Ach-ankovil in Kollam, Kaypa-managalm in Thrissur, Ko-ppam in Palakkad, Thon-darnad in Wayanad and coastal police stations were commissioned at Vadakara and Elathur in Kozhikode.
