Enthusiasm marks Sunday Funday
HYDERABAD: Thousands of people thronged Sunday Funday events organised by HMDA and GHMC at Tank Bund and Charminar on Sunday evening. The event was a part of the ongoing ‘Swatantra Bharat Vajrotsavalu’ celebrations marking the 75 Independence Day.
Light showers and drizzle throughout the day and late evening did not dampen the spirits of people as both the venues witnessed large crowds amid zest and enthusiasm.
Special chief secretary of MA&UD Arvind Kumar said “We have arranged fireworks at both Tank Bund and Charminar to celebrate the spirit of Independence”.
Food stalls, shopping stalls and fireworks were organized at both the venues.
One of the event organizers said “There has been a turn up of around 4,000 people at both venues despite the rains”.
Fireworks were carried out at People Plaza and Sardar Mahal in Charminar and Durgam Cheruvu. Its organizer Dilip Ganathe told Deccan Chronicle “it was carried out for around 10 minutes. We called a designer from Canada and various forms such as the national flag were all on display”.
