Hubballi: Former minister Satish Jarkiholi on Friday claimed that Congress leader D.K. Shivakumar and his family members are being grilled by the Enforcement Directorate as he refused to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Addressing press persons in Belagavi on Friday, Mr Satish said that the Income Tax wing has not taken any action against his brother and disqualified Gokak MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi despite conducting a raid on his house only because he had helped the Bharatiya Janata Party form the government in the state.
“There are many corrupt leaders in the Bharatiya Janata Party as well. I would like to ask the Central government why Ramesh is not being probed by the IT wing despite unaccounted cash being found at his residence in Gokak before the general elections,” Satish said.
“Therefore, there is a need to demolish Ramesh Jarkiholi's fiefdom in Gokak to free people of the taluk. I have fought Ramesh many times in the past. People need not be afraid of him and officials should perform their duty as per the law,” he said.
Lashing out against Ramesh’s brother-in-law Ambirao Patil, he said the Congress will hold a mammoth convention in Gokak once Ramesh gets a top post like that of Deputy CM in the BJP government. He also reiterated that his brother Lakhan will contest from Gokak in the Assembly byelection whenever it is held.
