BJP praises Modi leadership at G20

Sees change in way India is perceived globally

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome on Wednesday for the successful conclusion of the G20 summit as he arrived at the BJP headquarters to attend the central election committee (CEC) meeting. The CEC meeting was convened to discuss the remaining candidate names for the upcoming elections in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, with BJP leaders also addressing candidate selection for the Rajasthan polls.

Before the CEC meeting, the parliamentary board, the highest decision-making body of the BJP, convened and passed a resolution expressing great pride in Modi's exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment during the G20 Delhi Summit. The resolution hailed the G20 Delhi Summit as a pivotal moment in India's diplomatic history, marking a transformative moment in how the nation is perceived and engaged with on the global stage.

Amidst a shower of flower petals and the patriotic song from the 1970s movie "Purab aur Paschim," which added to the atmosphere at the BJP headquarters, hundreds of party workers gathered to congratulate the PM. Modi waved to the crowd as he walked from the entrance to the main building, where CEC members and other BJP leaders, including those from the Delhi unit, awaited him with flowers.

It's worth noting that the Opposition, which recently renamed itself as INDIA, has been criticising Modi and the BJP over the usage of 'Bharat' instead of 'India' in invitations sent by President Droupadi Murmu, who referred to herself as the "President of Bharat" for a dinner on the sidelines of the recently concluded G20 summit.

The CEC meeting, which included union ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, was chaired by BJP president J.P. Nadda.

In a departure from previous practices where candidate names were announced after the election schedules were disclosed, the BJP released its first list of candidates for Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh ahead of the implementation of the model code of conduct.

Assembly elections are scheduled for Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram in November-December.
