Navy's Hello Sikkim' tick marks pearl city

Hyderabad: The nationwide motor car rally, organised by the Indian Navy, which is aimed at strengthening connections with north eastern states, reached Hyderabad on Saturday morning and was flagged off to proceed to its next destination by Rear Admiral Ravnish Seth, director, defence machinery development establishment (DMDE and station commander (Navy) from DMDE.

Titled 'Khamri Mo Sikkim (Hello Sikkim)', the car rally took off from INS Shivaji at Lonavala in Maharashtra on September 24 and has been traversing through several cities including Mhow, Jhansi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Gangtok, Lachen, Yumthang, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.

The rally comprises 14 naval personnel, including six women officers.

The rally hopes to encourage the youth from the north east region to join defence services, enhance maritime consciousness in the region and strengthen nation-building. The crew will cover 6,300 km in 22 days and visit key establishments of armed forces, kindling young and impressionable minds at various schools/colleges besides reaching out to the veterans.
