KOZHIKODE: The young, budding poets of rural Kozhikode have formed a collective, 'Kavyaayanam,' to discuss and debate literary and cultural topics.
The collective of ten poets comprises T.K. Biju, Suresh Parapram, Raghunathan Kolathur, Shamsu Pooma, Sudev, Joby Mathew, Bindu Babu, Babitha Atholy, Deepthi Rilesh and Shruthi Vaisakh. They are from Koyilandy, Ulliyeri and Balusserry areas. "It has been five months since we formed the group. We meet every second Saturday at scenic spots," says Biju. Most of them have published their own anthology of poems and won recognition.
The group, which has already met at Kappad, Eranjikkal, Ulliyeri, Kolathur and Parapally, will gather at Thusharagiri next. "Our own poems are posted on WhatsApp group a week prior to the meet. The members come with their appreciation of the poem and have an open dialogue," added Biju.
'Kavyaayanam' has also decided to publish a collection of the poems of the 10 poets.
