Kozhikode main beach to get a makeover
KOZHIKODE: The main beach in the city has turned the most sought after venue for conventions, festivals and fairs. Hence the state government decided to improve its infrastructural facilities.
A. Pradeep Kumar MLA said he had sanctioned Rs 4 crore towards this in addition to the central government allocation of Rs 2 crore. The Kerala Literature Festival was one such event drawing attention from people from all parts of the country and even abroad to the beach.
The District Tourism Promotion Council plans to modify the beach infrastructure in such a way that it turns to be the venue of all upcoming big and small events in the city.
"The KLF team has assured to make it a permanent venue and hence infrastructural development is the prime focus," he said. Half the work was competed before the four-day event began here on January 10."
"Modern seating arrangements, rain shelter, drinking water kiosks,washrooms, waste bins and plant enclosures are all that we are planning here, and also venues will be marked to accommodate more than 1,000 people. Modern decorative lightings would be another highlight," he added.
