Rohith Vemula case: Dalit Bahujan Front critcises Guntur district administration

According to the students of the University of Hyderabad, the BJP is showing urgency to declare Rohith a BC due to UP elections.

Guntur/Hyderabad: Several Dalit organisations, including the Dalit Bahujan Front (DBF), have critcised the Guntur district administration for issuing show cause notices to the Rohith Vemula family about the change of their caste.

Speaking here on Tuesday, DBF national secretary M. Bhagya Rao claimed that after the completion of a thorough inquiry, revenue officials had issued an SC certificate to the Vemula family and now the cancellation of the SC status was against rules.

He alleged that the BJP government was trying to save Union labour minister Bandaru Dattatreya and then UoH vice-chancellor P. Appa Rao.

According to the students of the University of Hyderabad, the BJP is showing urgency to declare Rohith a BC due to UP elections.

“The BJP has done whatever it could to suppress the Rohith Vemula case. However, it is difficult to understand how can the collector, who a few months ago declared Rohith to be an SC, is now stating that his brother belongs to the BC,” Sannaki Munna, JAC leader at University of Hyderabad.

Dontha Prashanth, the research scholar, who was one of the suspended students along with Rohith, stated that they will explore legal options on it.
