Guntur: Rohith Vemula’s brother Raja on Tuesday insisted that they belong to the SC community and alleged that the government is trying to change their caste to save big leaders, who were responsible for the suicide of his brother.
He said earlier the district officials, after conducting a thorough inquiry, had issued an SC certificate and now those officials, after conducting a “namesake” inquiry, were trying to stamp them as those belonging to the backward community.
He said: “As a stern punishment is likely for the persons responsible for abetting my brother Rohith to commit suicide under the SC/SC Atrocity (Prevention) Act, the BJP government is trying to change our caste to the BC.”
He said their family would fight against the notice legally and would conduct agitation against the conspiracy. Ms Radhika said this is a political game of the BJP to save their ministers and then V-C of UoH.
She said: “My mother late Anjani Devi clearly stated my caste as SC. But now the district administration, after issuing SC certificates to us once, is trying to force us to take BC certificates but we will fight against this injustice.”
