Telangana to recruit 7,300 teachers

The qualifying percentage, previously set at 60, was withdrawn following opposition from students.

HYDERABAD: The preliminary test to recruit teachers will be held on May 28 and the main exam in June for 7,306 posts. The tests are meant to select trained graduate teachers and post-graduate teachers in residential schools.

National Council for Teacher Education guidelines will be followed. Candidates from SC, ST and BC communities should have at least 45 per cent marks in graduation. For others, it is 50 per cent.

The TS Public Service Commission will conduct the tests for teachers in social, BC, minorities and tribal welfare residential schools and Residential Educational Institution Societies.

There are 4,362 posts for TGTs followed by 921 for PGTs, 616 for physical education teachers. 533 staff nurses and 256 librarians. Applications have also been called for art, craft and music teachers.

Online registrations for TGTs and PGTs will commence from April 18 and two days later for other posts. The exam will be in English except for language posts.
